About Keith Barton

I’m a veteran and father raising a family right here in Texas, and I’ve lived the systems that need fixing. My career has always been about responsibility, service, and solving real problems; not seeking the spotlight. I’m running for Congress to bring that same steady, practical leadership to the people I serve, and to build a better future for my family and yours.

Where I came from to get here.

The Upbringing

Mr. Barton started with humble beginnings in the great state of Alaska in a lower–middle-class family on a small personal farm. He was raised in a loving home with Christian values as a Lutheran. Starting with no running water, his family built their little slice of paradise. He grew up very active in Cub/Boy Scouts, 4-H riding and racing horses, FAA, wrestling, football, hunting, and fishing.

His first job was bucking hay bales to feed their animals. Much like West Texas, Alaskans know a good honest hard day’s work with similar values — it’s just a little colder with larger wildlife. He understands a state that provides natural beauty and resources to our country.

Military Service: Commissioned Officer

Mr. Barton was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps in 2005 and went on to Quantico, Virginia, for this next chapter. He attended Naval Flight School in Northwest Florida, earned his wings as a Naval Aviator, and was trained to fight in the UH-1N Huey helicopter. As a Captain and pilot, he then deployed as part of a Marine Expeditionary Unit to Asia.

Mr. Barton later shifted his career and became a Logistics Officer. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF as an advisor to the Afghan National Army Mobile Strike Force, seeing active combat while flying drones in support of his counterparts. Following his combat deployment, Mr. Barton graduated Marine Expeditionary Warfare School as a Distinguished Graduate.

Mr. Barton left military service in 2017 as a Disabled Veteran.

Military Service: Enlisted years

Mr. Barton enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June of 1998 as part of the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion in Alaska, earning his Reconnaissance Marine designation and the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he began his career in logistics management full time, while attending undergraduate school full time.

Mr. Barton graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a B.A. in 2004.

Post Service Career: Alabama

Mr. Barton began as one of the first leaders assigned to open a 2.6-million-square-foot import distribution center in Mobile, Alabama; the largest building ever built by Walmart. He served as the Operational Project Manager responsible for implementing their Autonomous Mobile Robot initiative, which operated on hydrogen power.

Mr. Barton then took a promotion to lead a logistics team of nearly 200 employees across three sites, supporting Airbus in Mobile with full 24/7 operations for the A320 and A220 passenger jet assembly lines.

During this time, he also started his own small drone business.

Post Service Career: Texas

Mr. Barton moved to Texas with his family when his spouse received orders as an Active Duty Officer. He began working for HOLT CAT and Texas First Rentals as a Manager, continuing his career in leadership, operations, and logistics.

He also continues to run and grow his drone and services business here in San Antonio.

Life and Family Values

Mr. Barton believes that moral and religious values are the foundation that keeps families strong. A strong family unit makes America better and supports our economy, safety, security, and growth.

His spouse is a foreign national who became an American citizen, and he is incredibly proud of her accomplishment in becoming a board-certified Doctor of Psychology here in the United States. His daughters are thriving in the great state of Texas, and the Barton family has made Texas their forever home.

Through his service, business experience, and personal travel, Mr. Barton has seen 23 countries, giving him a broader world view that many Americans never get the opportunity to experience.

Mr. Barton’s Promise

Mr. Barton promises to bring his experience, discipline, and logical thinking to Washington on behalf of Texas. He believes this is still the land of opportunity, and that a person’s character, work ethic, and commitment to their community matter more than anything else. We are all Americans, and we should share one unified goal: keeping this country strong, fair, and full of opportunity for every family willing to strive for it.
